X-POLE Product Cleaning

We understand, as studio owners ourselves, the concerns people have with the current pandemic. With this in mind we have brought together an info and cleaning guide for our products to keep you and your clients safe and clean.

MYTH:  Poles from China have a higher risk of having COVID 19.

FACT: X-POLE’s are produced in our very own factory in China. The factory underwent rigorous cleaning and government checks before being allowed to reopen. Sanitised cleaning is now part of the ongoing factory protocols.

MYTH: Metal surfaces, such as a pole, allow for COVID-19 to survive longer.

FACT: COVID 19 virus was found to be detectable for one day on cardboard, for up to three days on plastic (polypropylene) and stainless steel and for up to four hours on 99% copper. This, however, varies based on the humidity and temperature.

The journey of an X-POLE product

It takes approximately 60 days from production to arrival in our warehouse, during which time an X-POLE has been on a long journey. From production finish to packing into a container can be two weeks. The container is then shipped by sea, approximately 30 days, and then it can be another 5-7 days from UK customs clearance to our warehouse.

X-POLE HQ are confident that due to the time scale of the manufacturing and delivery process your product is 100% virus free.

Your poles are also wrapped and packed for protection but if you are still worried about contamination when your shiny new X-POLE arrives, then give it a good clean before you start.

Take out your pole and clean with a solution that has a high alcohol content. Alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol are known to kill the COVID 19 virus. X-POLE’s X-CLEAN Pole cleaner is also recommended to clean and then use a sanitiser spray.

Clean with a ‘new’ soft cloth or paper roll.  Once you have cleaned your X-POLE fully leave to dry, wash the cloth, and WASH YOUR HANDS.

We recommend that you give your pole a clean before and after every use.

Arize Aerial Equipment

X-POLE now have a great range of Aerial Equipment including Aerial Hoops, Silks and Hammocks.

MYTH: COVID 19 stays on material longer than other surfaces

FACT: Research for material is very slim however what we have found is that materials such as polyester are similar to cardboard due to the fibres, therefore the virus can remain up to 24 hours on the surface. However, this will depend on many factors such as if the material gets wet which could mean it remains for a longer period.

MYTH: You cannot wash your silks or hammocks

FACT: Our silks and hammocks are made of polyester and elastane and can be washed using our guidelines supplied with every product or on our web site.

Material Cleaning

There are no definitive tests yet published (or that we know of) on this subject.  However, X-POLE recommend that you spray your silks, hammocks lightly with a high alcohol fabric spray. Do not soak your material but lightly spray, similar to a mist, and allow to dry.

You can machine wash your silks and hammocks on a low silks wash setting and leave them to dry. Even though UV is known to kill the virus we do not recommend leaving these out in the sun too long as this may cause damage to the material.

If you are concerned and are using silks to teach, we do recommend that you look at leaving a 24-72-hour gap between classes.  We recommend no sharing of equipment during this time.

Aerial Hoop

MYTH: Your hoop must be wrapped for safety.

FACT:  We wrap our hoops for extra grip, you do not have to wrap; it is a personal choice.

Arize Aerial hoops are powder coated so you do not have to wrap them if you choose not to.  Not wrapping your hoops will help you to be able to clean your hoop before and after every use. Just remember not wrapping these will make it slicker, so think about wearing less clothing, working on grip control, or using a grip aid like XDry.

If you choose to wrap your hoop in material tape, you can spray these after every use. We would recommend changing your hoop tape more often than normal.

The information above is guidance, this information may change once new research develops. This is also affected by the amount of times the product is used and cleaned. ALL cleaning products and washing will wear the material over time, so we recommend that you check your equipment regularly.  X-POLE (Vertical Leisure Ltd.) cannot be held responsible for any damage to your product through cleaning.
