POLE THEATRE CROWNS WORLD CHAMPS IN PRAGUE

POLE THEATRE CROWNS WORLD CHAMPS IN PRAGUE

Prague, Czech republic played host to the inaugural Pole Theatre World Championships this month past, with over 44 competitors from across the globe competing for the honour of being crowned a champion in their respected division, and also for the coveted overall winner accolade.

Pole Theatre, owned by Michelle Shimmy and Maddie Sparkle, has in recent years become the gold standard of pole events, showcasing some of the best talent in the world of pole, with a creativity and panache that is often the envy of other events in the industry. The franchise is now active on every continent (bar Antarctica apparently) and in 2016 alone there have been Pole Theatres in Australia, UK, USA, Ireland, France, Greece, Argentina, Croatia, Hong Kong, Scandinavia, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa and Japan!

The focus of this competition is on the art of performance. Performers are encouraged to delve deep into their creative consciousness and envision a performance that will astonish and delight.

The Pole Theatre World event held in Prague brought together all the regional winners to compete for the overall title (and bragging rights for the next year) of Pole Theatre. The event took place at the stunning National House of Vinohrady in Prague and was attended by over 500 spectators, and populated by many vendors & sponsors.

Pole Theatre founders Michelle Shimmy and Maddie Sparkle, along with Marlo Fisken, Kenneth Kao, Hanka Venselaar, Shaina Cruea, Jarmilla Ptacnikova and Sarah Brown were all in attendance to judge the performers offerings.

Videos of all performances can be viewed on the Pole Theatre World Vimeo channel.
